Aix-en-Provence, a quaint university town in southern France, is home tothe global flagship campus. With the charm and sophistication of a big city,the city of Aix鈥攑ronounced 'X' offers traditional French culture in a small setting. The ancient village is well-known for its cherished painter Paul C茅zanne, who captured Mont Sainte-Victoire and the surrounding landscape. Both semester and summer programs offer students a singular and unmatched French experience together with a deeper understanding of Proven莽al culture through local field studies. The IAUcampus in Aix is conveniently situated in the town's historic district, a short distance from nearby French colleges, stores, and cafes.

Courses Offered

At IAU's Aix-en-Provence campus, students can choose from a variety of academic programs tailored to their interests, including summer programs with 3-week and 6-week options. The General Studies Program offers a broad selection of courses in the humanities, social sciences, education, and arts, while specialized opportunities include  options that provide 3 credits within students' degree programs, the French Honors Program, and certificates in French Language and Culture, Translation and Publishing, and . The Aix campus is most well known for its Art Program. Art students can engage in the for plein air painting or the for studio art.

With disciplines spanning a variety of subjects, students can customize their educational experience in a vibrant cultural setting. Additionally, IAU offers January Term (J-Term) Multi-Country Traveling Seminars, providing students with an opportunity to explore multiple destinations in Europe during their winter break.

Traditional Homestay Options:

  • Traditional homestay with meals: Daily interactions with family with daily breakfast and 6 dinners per week.
  • Traditional homestay with kitchen access and small meal plan at Cafe Med: Daily interactions with family without meals.

Provence Family Apartment:This option offers housing with local hosts in Aix-en-Provence. The hosts provide an apartment-style living arrangement with kitchen access, allowing students to prepare their own meals. Students can meet their hosts and learn about their lives in France while enjoying a more independent living experience, as daily interaction with the host is not required. Each Provence Family Apartment is unique.

Student Residence Apartment: Students will have the opportunity to live with other ACM-IAU students in apartments specifically designed for student living. Some apartments are located in buildings shared with other university students studying in Aix-en-Provence. Note that no meals or kitchen access is provided in this arrangement.

Visa

Students who wish to study abroad in France for longer than 90 days must have a visa before departure. The university will provide letters of acceptance and housing certificates to selected students in support of their visa application.  It is also necessary to fill out an application on the . Once the Campus France application process is completed, students will need to apply for their visas in person at the Visa Support Center in San Francisco, CA within 90 days of their departure to France. Various visa costs are associated with both Campus France and the actual visa.

Health Insurance

ACM-IAU offers health insurance through CHUBB, which is included in the program fee.
